What is IMAT?

The International Medical Admissions Test (IMAT) is the official entrance exam for English-taught Medicine and Surgery programs at 13 Italian public universities. It is organized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) in collaboration with Cambridge Assessment.

Step 1 — IMAT Registration (Universitaly)

All non-EU students must register through the official Universitaly portal: www.universitaly.it

What to Do on Universitaly

1. Create an account (you can generate a temporary fiscal code — the official one comes later)
2. Go to "Accesso Programmato / IMAT"
3. Complete your pre-enrollment form (non-EU students must do this before the exam)
4. Select Lahore as your test center
5. Select your preferred university (non-EU students can only select ONE university)
6. Pay the IMAT registration fee (~€130)

Important: Seats at the Lahore test center fill up extremely fast. Register the moment registration opens in July. Don't wait even a day.

The Italian Embassy requires either a DOV (Dichiarazione di Valore) or a CIMEA certificate to verify your academic credentials.

• DOV — Issued by the Italian Embassy in Pakistan (Islamabad). Cheaper. Requested during the visa process using "Form C" (Document Refinement Form).
• CIMEA — An independent verification service. More expensive but can be obtained before the visa process.

Step 3 — Sitting the IMAT Exam (Lahore)

On Exam Day

• Bring your QR code / admission letter received by email

Step 4 — After Results: Pre-Enrollment & Ranking

3. Submit enrollment documents to your chosen university

Cut-off Scores — IMAT 2025 (EU Ranking, Final)

Competition is rising fast. A record 13,495 students sat the IMAT in 2025. Most universities now have EU cut-offs above 60–66 points. Target a score of 55+ as your minimum, and 65+ if aiming for top universities.

Non-EU cut-offs are set separately at each university. Non-EU students do not participate in scrolling rounds — you get one chance only.

Step 5 — Italian Student Visa from Pakistan

Once you have your Admission Letter, apply for a Type D (National) Long-Stay Student Visa.
